Project Permissions vs. Folder Permissions

A StratusDrive User's Project level permissions will be inherited by all folders created within the project. This allows for access to folders within a StratusDrive enabled project to be controlled at the folder level. 


There are two ways to update folder permissions for StratusDrive enabled projects. Updates can be made from the project within the StratusVue Platform website and from the local StratusDrive. Please note that the best practice is to update project participant's folder sharing permissions locally within StratusDrive.

Managing Folder Permissions for Project Members

Updating Project Participant Folder Sharing Permissions (Best Practice)

1. Navigate to the local StratusDrive

2. Ensure the project being updated is selected as the active project in StratusDrive (StratusDrive Project Toolbar)

3. Navigate to the folder that is sharing permissions are being updated for

4. Right click on the folder to open the StratusDrive context menu

5. Select Share


The share folder pop-up will be populated with the list of Project Participants. The folder sharing permissions that are assigned to the project member have been inherited from the Project Participants project level permissions.

 

View Only: Gives the user access to view files within the folder with built in StratusDrive viewers

Download: Gives the user permission to view and download files within the folder

Update: Gives the user permission to view, download, and update existing files with a new version of the file within the folder. User also has permissions to rename the folder


Create: Gives the user permission to create new files and folders within the folder

Delete/Move: Gives the user permission to delete/move files within the folder

Expiration Date: Allows for an expiration to be set to the user's access to the StratusDrive project folder


Project Member Folder Access 

(Completed in the StratusVue Platform Website)

1. Navigate to the Project Members section of the Project Setup module within the StratusVue Platform website

2. Open a StratusDrive enabled Project Member by selecting their name in the grid

3. Open the Permissions tab of their Project Member profile

4. Locate StratusDrive in the Project Permissions Grid

5. Expand the StratusDrive section to show the StratusDrive project's folder structure

    Read: Gives the user view and download permissions within the folder

    Write: Allows the user to view, download, update, and create new folders and files within the folder

    Delete: Allows the User to move and/or delete the files within the folder

    Read All: N/A
